Before getting into the step by step process of how to set up a business page, let’s touch on a couple of the differences between the personal page and the business page and why setting up a Business Page is key for your success!
FACEBOOK COMPLIANCE: Of course Facebook has compliance, terms and conditions but let’s just get right into it, if you are trying to conduct business or promotion of any kind on your personal page Facebook can shut down your page at anytime without warning. You would then lose all the friends, photos, videos and connections you’ve made for as long as your account has been live. Another key to having a business page, this is the only way you are able to promote a post or set up specific ads, as a business this is an incredible feature you will want to take advantage of. ACCESS FOR ALL: Lastly, with a personal account, only people that have a Facebook account can view it (pending on your privacy settings), but a business page everyone can see it, similar to a public website. It also allows people to easily follow you by liking the page rather than having to request to be friends, which people are more hesitant to do unless they know you personally. If they like your business page, they will see your posts come up in their feeds (not all the time unfortunately.. as facebook limits who and how many times your posts will show on your followers feeds, gotta love that algorithm!). Creating content that encourages your followers to engage will help combat this, the more people like and comment on your posts the more they will see your future posts in their feed.
Step 1 – From your personal account let’s start by clicking the drop down arrow and selecting “Create a page”. If you already have a page set up but are looking to add an additional page go to the same drop down arrow and click on “manage pages” here is where you will find the “create a page” button.
All the best in making your business thrive!
